Aohata to Offer 800 Free Breakfasts to Youth in Hiroshima
Aohata, a prominent jam manufacturer based in Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is organizing a community event to promote breakfast consumption among young people. Scheduled for April 18 and 19, 2026, at Hiroshima Parco in Naka Ward, the initiative will provide 800 free original breakfast meals. The event is co-sponsored by Takaki Bakery and the Hiroshima Prefectural Government. It addresses a local health concern highlighted by a 2024 prefectural survey, which found that approximately one in six residents under the age of 30 rarely eats breakfast. Skipping this meal is associated with physical discomfort and poor concentration due to insufficient body temperature regulation. The menu features four distinct items, including Orange Marmalade Ham and Cheese Toast and Apricot and Camembert Cheese Caskute, utilizing Aohata’s low-sugar jams and Takaki Bakery’s bread. Students from Yasuda Women's University contributed to the menu development. The distribution begins at 10:00 AM on both days. This corporate social responsibility effort aims to improve dietary habits and health awareness among the younger demographic in the Hiroshima region through direct community engagement and nutritional education.
