Annamayya District Officials Mandate Blood Reserve Maintenance and Donation Camps

G. Radhika, the District AIDS Control Officer (DACO) of Annamayya district, has issued strict directives to blood bank officials to ensure adequate blood stocks and prevent shortages during emergencies. During an inspection of a charitable blood bank in Madanapalle, Dr. Radhika, accompanied by Cluster Programme Manager Bhaskar Vempalli, reviewed storage facilities and maintenance records. She emphasized the critical importance of maintaining sufficient reserves and strengthening monitoring mechanisms to guarantee uninterrupted blood availability. Dr. Radhika appealed to the youth to voluntarily participate in donation drives, equating blood donation with saving lives. Specific mandates include organizing at least 26 blood donation camps per month for each blood bank. Additionally, private blood banks are required to supply 30% of their collected blood to government facilities. The DACO also warned that the illegal sale of blood in hospitals is a punishable offense, promising strict action against violators. This initiative aims to bolster public health infrastructure and ensure emergency readiness within the district through regulated supply chains and increased community participation in voluntary donations.
