Annamayya District Administration Accelerates Horsley Hills Upgrades Ahead of Tourist Season

The Annamayya district administration in India has launched a comprehensive initiative to enhance infrastructure and sanitation at Horsley Hills, a popular hill station, in preparation for the upcoming tourist season. During a review meeting held in Madanapalle, Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma directed heads of various departments, including Tourism, Electricity, and Roads and Buildings, to expedite pending development works. The administration aims to address the increased pressure on facilities caused by growing visitor numbers while preserving the area's natural environment. Key upgrades discussed include improvements to roads, parks, public toilets, drinking water supplies, streetlights, and tourist viewpoints. Special attention was given to the Gali Banda area, where additional dustbins and signboards will be installed to combat plastic waste and improve cleanliness. Sharma emphasized the importance of eco-friendly measures, instructing officials to ensure that tourism development does not harm the scenic landscape. The meeting involved key officials such as Sub-Collector Challa Kalyani and representatives from multiple government departments, highlighting a coordinated effort to balance tourist convenience with environmental conservation before the peak season begins.
