Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu Targets 15% GSDP Growth, Prioritizes Agriculture and Industry
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed state officials to strive for a 15% Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth rate, emphasizing the critical need to boost productivity in the agriculture and industrial sectors. During a review meeting of the Finance Department at the Secretariat in Vijayawada, Naidu instructed departments to formulate comprehensive micro and macro-level plans to achieve these economic targets. He highlighted that despite financial constraints inherited from the previous administration, including a ₹4,600 crore burden related to electricity charges, the government has avoided raising rates to protect the public. The Chief Minister asserted that sufficient funds are available for priority projects like Amaravati and Polavaram, thanks to cooperation from the Central government. He urged officials to expedite development by mobilizing resources under central schemes such as Purvodaya and SASCI, and to secure funds mandated by the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. Additionally, Naidu called for enhanced administrative efficiency and simplified procedures to attract investments and generate revenue without imposing additional burdens on citizens. Key attendees included Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav and senior bureaucratic officials.
