Lisa Gill, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, officially inaugurated a new court complex in Rajamahendravaram on Saturday. The facility, constructed at a cost of ₹38 crore, is situated on the banks of the Godavari River and comprises ten courts serving the undivided East Godavari district. Key amenities within the complex include a mediation centre, a counselling centre, a record room, and specialized infrastructure designed to assist differently-abled persons. According to Judge Gandham Sunitha, eight civil courts, a family court, and an SC&ST court are scheduled to relocate from their previous location near Pushkar Ghat to this new building soon. During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Justice Gill emphasized that the structure represents the people's sentiments and institutional commitment rather than just physical construction. She also addressed the role of technology in the judiciary, noting that digitalization is now integral to the system. While acknowledging the allure of Artificial Intelligence for younger generations, she cautioned that the legal fraternity must harness technology for its advantage without being dictated by it. Several other High Court judges and local bar association leaders attended the event.
