Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Orders Probe into Medical Equipment Procurement Irregularities

Satya Kumar Yadav, the Health Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has directed the Health Secretary to submit a comprehensive report following media allegations of significant irregularities in the procurement of medical equipment. The reports claim that equipment is being purchased at inflated prices and that firms previously declared ineligible for supply are being granted new opportunities. Additionally, there are accusations regarding the procurement of unnecessary items. In response, Minister Yadav instructed Health Secretary Saurabh Gaur to investigate these claims thoroughly and propose measures to enhance transparency within the system. During the proceedings, Krishna Mohan, Executive Director of the Andhra Pradesh Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC), met with the Minister to clarify his role, stating he was not involved in finalizing technical specifications and had only reconsidered proposals on two occasions. The Minister also discussed upcoming official transfers scheduled for 2026, urging the implementation of an online system to ensure error-free and efficient processing. This incident highlights ongoing scrutiny of public health infrastructure spending in the region.
