Alibaba’s mapping and mobility unit, Amap, has established a global ecosystem partnership with Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng. The collaboration aims to integrate XPeng’s L4-level autonomous Robotaxi fleet into Amap’s digital platform. This initiative represents the industry’s first model combining a major mobility aggregation platform with factory-built autonomous vehicles. It highlights Amap’s strategic effort to apply its “spatial intelligence” AI framework, designed for real-world spatial perception and reasoning, to new mobility scenarios. Amap intends to leverage its substantial user base of 800 million monthly active users to create the world’s largest Robotaxi aggregation platform.
