Chinese tech giant Alibaba is preparing to unveil its first self-developed artificial intelligence glasses this week, marking a significant entry into the increasingly competitive wearable technology market. According to reports from Chinese media outlet 36Kr, the new device features core functionalities such as a voice assistant, music playback, call handling, real-time translation, and meeting transcription services. The glasses are deeply integrated into Alibaba’s broader ecosystem, allowing users to access services like AMAP for navigation, Alipay for digital payments, and Taobao for shopping. Powered primarily by Alibaba’s Qwen large language model, with domain-specific support from Quark for education and health sectors, the hardware utilizes a dual-chip system comprising Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 and BES2800 chips. Two versions are expected: a standard AI model and an advanced AI plus augmented reality (AR) model with a display.
