'Akkaareya Angala' Summer Camps for Rural Children Launch in Mandya

The 'Akkaareya Angala' summer camps for rural schoolchildren have officially commenced across the Mandya district, aiming to provide quality educational and recreational opportunities. Nandini K.R., the Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat, emphasized strict accountability, warning officials of disciplinary action for any lapses or lack of coordination during the initiative. The 34-day program, running from April 17 to May 26, is mandatory in all gram panchayat limits. It involves close collaboration among librarians, teachers, and Panchayat Development Officers, with Arivu centers and libraries serving as primary venues. The curriculum includes academic subjects like mathematics and science, alongside co-curricular activities such as art, music, dance, yoga, and skill development. Authorities have set a target to enroll at least 80% of students from Classes 5 to 10 in each area. Daily sessions are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with monitoring conducted at taluk and district levels through a spreadsheet-based reporting system. This initiative builds on the previous year's success, coordinated with the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department and the Education Department, ensuring widespread participation and effective execution.
