AIADMK Candidate Gokula Indira Predicts Victory in Anna Nagar Amid Anti-Incumbency Sentiment

S. Gokula Indira, the AIADMK candidate for the Anna Nagar constituency in Tamil Nadu, expressed strong confidence in winning the upcoming election, citing a widespread public desire for a change in government. In an interview with The Hindu, the former Rajya Sabha MP and minister criticized the current DMK-led administration for alleged lack of development in the region. Indira highlighted key local issues, including the urgent need to resolve land title (patta) disputes and address recurring flooding by desilting the Cooum river and removing encroachments. She also proposed establishing a designated food cart hub to manage the area's growing nightlife while ensuring women's safety and minimizing residential disturbance. Although the incumbent MLA is not contesting, Indira emphasized that voter sentiment favors the AIADMK regardless of the opposition candidate. She dismissed the impact of new political entrants like actor Vijay’s party, focusing instead on her party’s alliance strength and welfare-oriented manifesto. Indira attributed her previous electoral loss to minor lapses but asserted that her longstanding connection with constituents as a trusted leader would secure her victory this time.
