Aerial Survey of Mines and Minerals Underway in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri

The Geological Survey of India (GSI), in collaboration with IIC Technologies, has commenced an aerial survey targeting mines and mineral deposits in selected areas of the Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts. This precision exercise involves a Cessna Caravan 208B, a small single-engine aircraft, flying at a low altitude of 270 feet to ensure accurate data collection. The operation is scheduled to continue until June 10, 2026. In response to potential public concern regarding the low-flying aircraft, the district administration has issued a statement urging residents not to panic, clarifying that this is a legitimate government-led initiative. Authorities have advised that any queries or clarifications about the survey can be directed to the nearest police station or revenue offices. This systematic exploration aims to map geological resources effectively, supporting future mining and development planning in the region while maintaining transparency with the local population through official communication channels.
