Adani Agri Fresh Limited (AAFL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, has announced its expansion into the stone fruit sector, beginning with cherry procurement in Himachal Pradesh. The company has upgraded controlled atmosphere storage facilities across six locations in the state to support the storage and distribution of cherries. This strategic move aims to enhance shelf life, broaden market access, and ensure better price discovery for local farmers. Building on its established experience in apple sourcing, AAFL plans to gradually include other stone fruits like peaches and plums in its portfolio. Manish Agarwal, Business Head at AAFL, highlighted that this initiative leverages their existing infrastructure and commitment to improving farmer livelihoods. Since 2006, AAFL has procured over 3 lakh metric tonnes of apples from more than 17,000 farmers, contributing significantly to the regional economy. The company employs standardized grading systems and is expanding its Digital Mandi platform, allowing remote sales and reducing reliance on traditional markets. Currently handling about 4% of Himachal Pradesh's apple production, AAFL continues to increase its capacity. The announcement was made at the 'Fruit Horizon 2026' event, organized by ICAR and other government bodies, underscoring efforts to globalize India's fruit value chain.
